I usually end up with so many open that I start forgetting why I had them open in the first place. It's a convenient way to get back to work.

I heard about the Bechdel test through Trisha, the other main writer on Gordon McAlpin's (Multiplex creator) movie blog, MovieMakeOut.com. It is definitely something I'd never heard/thought of before, but now I often go back to it. I support Bechdel positive movies, but not for the same vaguely feminist reasons that most do. I think that movies that "pass" are generally less manipulative and more original/quality. Or a "pass" at least makes me more want to see it than I might otherwise. Trisha probably mentions it every few months in regards to one movie or another, and it has thus entered my head more regularly and become a part of my movie vocabulary.smiley_cow wrote:That was my experience the first time I was there. I'm still a little disappointed that the list of things that have each trope are obviously incomplete, but I still like reading about different tropes. And besides, if it weren't for TVTropes I'd have never heard of the Bechdel Test.
Emotionally manipulative. Of everybody, really, but particularly the more emotional among us.*Oldrac the Chitinous wrote:Less manipulative of whom?
