A Chia Pet is a crappy gift for desperate people looking in wal-greens (or your local equivalent).

Hey! I've always wanted a chia pet Now I laugh because of the guy that was named Chia. Second greatest name I've ran across, first was Harry Poon. His parents are my heroes.mountainmage wrote:A Chia Pet is a crappy gift for desperate people looking in wal-greens (or your local equivalent).

I met someone named Harry Bouls.
I also used to run around saying my name was abdul akbar, but then I met a dude who was named abdul akbar, so I felt bad.

I've always wanted a chia pet... but that's mostly just my obsession with dirt based crafts showing. That and the fact its probably the only plant I could ever keep alive. I once killed a cactus by neglect, so I'm rather serious in my lacking of any green thumbs.

Wow. I bought a plant that was supposed to use very few nutrients from the soil, could be kept out in the snow, and would drop it's own produced seeds into the soil again when it died, so that a new plant would grow in it's place. Keep the soil fresh every month or so and it should live forever. It died, and wasn't reborn from it's degraded corpse. So sad, too bad.

I have an aloe plant that's been alive almost as long as I have. It's grown into a beast.

Re: Here's your DAMN VG Cats Topic!
I have a standard leafy plant (I don't know the species). Within the first week of me getting it, most of the leaves half browned, and I thought it wasn't going to last. And I was taking good care of it. So I was a little more diligent with it but it didn't get any better, and didn't get any worse.
Eventually I started neglecting it, just forgetting about it and all that. Watering it once a week if it was lucky. Then about a week ago I noticed it starting to wilt (I'm pretty sure I must have left it for near a month without water). As I was watering it I noticed that it had actually begun to grow new stems and leaves. The old ones are still half brown and looking pretty poor, but there are a few newer smaller leaves in the middle that are taller and much nicer looking.
Moral of the story: Sometimes neglect will provide a positive result. Especially when rearing a plant, pet or child.

Or a girlfriend. You don't put out? For this to work, either I need to find jesus, or you need to lose him.Lethal Interjection wrote:Especially when rearing a plant, pet or child.

Oh, I know, and was going to mention that it is a typical response, but he's been better and I didn't want to see him backslide.mountainmage wrote:That's what I say after EVERY ahmet post.
But, I mean, you don't rear a girlfriend. Unless you are talking euphemistically. And how the phrase "You don't put out?" fits in there, I'm not sure. And then the whole find/lose Jesus thing still doesn't follow.
