I didn't mean for her to stab herself in the eye. What was she doing carrying a pencil around in a classroom anyway? Fool girl. I just wanted to trip her over a little because she annoyed me about something.mountainmage wrote:Well...that beats my story.
Also that movie was excellent, but not quite as excellent as the previous one. But we all know that the Joel Schumacher one tops the cake.

Re: Yahoo answers shut my account down
I liked it, I really enjoy the dark elements of that film, and the exploration of the characters like Two-Face, Batman, and the Joker himself. But I'm starting to find that the original Batman comics also had a strong focus on the inner workings of the characters, so maybe I should have expected it. Also I liked how insanely effective the Joker was at getting the job done, despite being so chaotic. To have that sort of control and ability to out-think everybody else's well thought out plans, was to me frightening and awe-inspiring.

How is what he did well-thought-out? He's a supervillain. We turn our heads for a second, he does some random shit, we turn back and say, "oh, he must have thought it out." While in reality we have no idea how he did the things he did, or how he knew that his plan would work. How are these deep characters? The Joker is insane! How clever is that? Jack Nicholson acted pretty crazy too. I can't see the difference and neither performance was particularly outstanding or interesting. Your description of the Joker (effective, but chaotic) is pretty much how I'd describe Dennis Hopper in Speed, except Speed came out 14 years earlier with a smaller FX budget, and I liked it. This movie is about as dark and deep as Speed starring Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock. Except not as good.[/rant]

I dunno, I guess it depends how you look at it. It definitely did attempt to explore the themes of what makes someone a hero or villain, and how someone can cross the line between them.
Whether it succeeded or not is a matter of opinion, though.

Yeah well in Speed, Dennis Hopper plays an ex-cop. That's why he's so good with bombs. So now we have an individual who went from a hero to a villain, and has a backstory that can explain his dumb powers! Speed is still the clear winner here. Fuck that movie is amazing.

Re: Yahoo answers shut my account down
These are spoilers and I don't care about the warning today.
The only thing I didn't like about the Dark Knight? I would have totally blown up one of those boats. I would have hissed and kicked and grabbed that button and killed the other boat load of people. Especially if I was in that boat with anyone that I knew and loved. It's a sacrifice I would make, and maybe I'd regret it for the rest of my life, but I'd have the rest of my life to regret it.
What would have been more joker-ish, would be if someone had finally pressed the button and it blew up their own boat. That would have been funny.

I was under the impression that the Joker's intent was to blow up both boats, no matter what happened. But frankly I thought it was a little odd that neither boat did it themselves.

There where three boats. Two lots of civilians and one lot of criminals.LordRetard wrote:I was under the impression that the Joker's intent was to blow up both boats, no matter what happened. But frankly I thought it was a little odd that neither boat did it themselves.

Hmm, I don't think that's true.

Also, thought Batman may have been the least interesting character in Dark Knight. Still loved the movie, but I felt like Batman was merely the glue that held a bunch of fantastic characters/actors together.

That's the one thing that everyone seems to agree about. Batman definitely falls flat. And the whole gravelly voice thing is extremely distracting and feels like a running gag.

I may have liked Batty better than Maggie Gyllenhaal/Rachel. But I'm not sure. Definitely prefered Two Face/Harvey Dent, Joker, Gordon and even the mayor.LordRetard wrote:That's the one thing that everyone seems to agree about. Batman definitely falls flat. Gordon rules. Because anyone Gary Oldman plays is most excellent.
