Ereaders are great. Imagine having to pack enough books to keep you occupied through an entire trip through interstellar space, which, unless they have near light-speed travel, would take (and feel like) decades. You'd put your back out trying to carry that many books. But an ereader they could just put a few hundred books on there and never be bored on those long lonely space nights between distant stars. Basically this is the best gift any alien overlord could hope for.

Re: Ultimate Top Trumps
An non-personalized card without gift is perfect for our new alien overlords.
It presents a sentiment without monetizing the relationship as well as couching humanity's allegiance.
Maybe we respect their overlording, or maybe not. Maybe we respect their leadership enough not to kiss-ass with gifts, but perhaps we don't really expect any return of sentiment or want one from a leader who we don't respect or we don't think will be around for much longer.
Not a great gift for friends, but certainly a good one for a 'boss' who we are as yet unsure of.

Obviously because the reason the aliens have travelled across the vast gulf of interstellar space is to search for a ergonomic brass instrument capable of projecting warm tones over the rest of the band. Enslaving us is just a bonus.

Our alien overlords will want to show the jewels of their conquest to their citizens back home, and what better symbol of conquest than a container made of glass - the pretty, transparent material made from scorching the very Earth itself with intense heat? The bottle is also empty because we have nothing of value to your kind, please leave us alone.

Since when is chemistry not a science?

Yay!!??!!??
Well, I have a topic chosen. So you havea week a month an undetermined amount of time to present your cards to said topic.*
*Hopefully I don't forget the topic in the meantime. I normally scribble it down somewheres, but with my impending move that's not going to be a reliable reminder.**
** I'll put it on a note in my phone! If nothing else the post will be a reminder about where I put it.

Now I wonder whether you also pick things in your line of sight as cards.

I'm not sure who you are talking about my cards or Liri's empty wine bottle.Astrogirl wrote:Now I wonder whether you also pick things in your line of sight as cards.
I do often choose something based on something in line of sight, if I'm spacing on something. Sometimes it is that thing, but more often it is the inspiration. I have a terrible imagination.

I've got a couple space shuttles laying around.
